Replace/React
Attraverso l’improvvisazione questi suoni vengono elaborati e rimodellati fino a generare paesaggi sonori completamente nuovi,
“Replace” rappresenta la trasfigurazione sonora che ri-colloca i suoni in nuovi paesaggi;
Replace/React is an electronic music album that recreates imaginary soundscapes using field recordings captured directly by the musician.
Each track is built from sounds gathered in the same moment and location, preserving the authenticity and uniqueness of the original audio material.Through improvisation, these sounds are processed and reshaped into entirely new sonic landscapes, inspired solely by the original recordings, with no additional external sounds. The result is a series of “alien” soundscapes that remain deeply connected to their origins: organic matter meets synthesis and transforms into new matter.
“Replace” represents the sonic transfiguration that re-places the sounds into new environments;
“React” is the instant reaction to those sounds, a key aspect of both the album’s creative process and the artist’s overall approach to improvisation.
The improvisational and compositional process developed in the studio is reflected in the live performances,
where each show reinterprets the album in real time using the original sound material.

Replace/React in Landscape
An audiovisual project by Ermanno Novali & Rosario Grieco
Replace/React in Landscape is an audiovisual project born from a sonic imaginary: the music recreates landscapes starting from environmental recordings and the video takes shape as a natural extension of this experience, reconstructing and amplifying the scenery in visual form.
The work connects two modes of perception and fruition: on one hand, listening, which constructs imaginary landscapes through sound; on the other, vision, which offers new possibilities for interpretation and amplifies the imaginary. In this dialogue between sound and image, the original landscape is transformed into a model for other scenarios—near and far, concrete and abstract—inviting the viewer into a double sensory exploration.
Sound and video do not overlap but call to one another, opening a dialogue where each expands the other, generating shifts in perspective. The original landscape is reflected in multiple scenarios, transforming into a territory that does not coincide with its source but preserves its echo, inviting the viewer to move between proximity and distance, between recognition and alterity.
